Within the Knicks there is optimism about Barrett's potential
The RJ Barrett talent is not in question. Although he has struggled a lot this season, inside the Knicks they are ready to bet on him.
“I don’t think anyone can predict whether Barrett, who was selected third overall in the 2019 draft, will become a championship star,” wrote SNY’s Ian Begley on Monday. “But the people around the Knicks have been impressed by Barrett’s consistent approach to work and his work ethic“.
Begley continued: “Some scouts I spoke to were impressed by Barrett’s ability to influence the game as a rebound and defender fairly consistently in his first season. These scouts think that if Barrett can improve his perimeter shot and continue to progress as a defender, he will have a long successful career in the NBA”.
