As soon as the Knicks hired Utah Jazz’s assistant coach Johnnie Bryant, Donovan Mitchell rumors were to be expected for New York’s franchise.
According to Forbes contributor Adam Zagoria, the Knicks want badly to acquire Donovan Mitchell, but they are not sure about the fit with the team’s young star RJ Barrett.
“They want him badly but may be a possible conflict with R.J. [Barrett],” a source with knowledge of the Knicks thinking said of Mitchell. “There’s a debate in the front office if they can play together.”
Of course, a team would like to have Mitchell on its squad. The Utah Jazz All-Star has become a franchise player from Day 1 having a great impact on the winning column for his team.
A couple of days ago, the New York native dropped 57 points to set a franchise record for most points in a playoff game. His scoring performance against Denver, which was the team that gave him up on the 2017 NBA Draft, was the third-best in the history of the NBA playoffs.
The Jazz will need a good package of talent and picks in order to trade a player like Mitchell, even if “Spida” is willing to leave Utah.
